the law of contingency tells us that that which happens or has happened need not have occurred that way. occurrences are uncertain, and the uncertain occurrences begotten of uncertainties are more uncertain still. this is shown in real life by the occurrence of things that were never going to happen. likewise by the failure of things that were always going to happen. people lose their houses betting the wrong way. one should always have a bet both ways. the odds favour the contradictions. sometimes, things that were never ever going to happen, things that were never potentialities, happen. sometimes these things happen and are good. god, who was never going to create the world, never ever – how could he? – created it. and he saw that it was good. but then they started eating them apples and it was not good. there were good bits, and there were bad bits. seeing that it was no longer good he said: the world is everything that is the case. is that good enough? of course it is. was it ever going to happen? of course not. how did it happen? slowly? no, it was not happening until after it had happened. which is the best way. oh, said the god, who still had so much to learn.

*godsh, i don’t know how i missed the actual day of the anniversary, but luckily, someone remionded me, and the celebration is not until tomorrow. it’s uncle fred’s 25th birthday, so to speak. so if any of you blog-readers out there find yourself in blacktown tomorrow evening, be sure to pop in and shake fred’s hand. what the hell, give the guy a hug, maybe even a kiss on the cheek and a pat on the rump. with the passing of steve irwin, he may be the only man capable of saving australia. and if you have time, be sure to stay for the speeches.
“Special guest speaker on the night will be Pastor Danny Nalliah. Danny was one of two Christian Pastors who were charged in Victoria, under their Racial and Religious Tolerance Act, of “inciting hatred towards Muslims”. This case has spread around the world. He was found guilty and a sentence handed down.”
and in case you were worried about parking: “This are plenty of Mini-bus and Car parking spaces available in the Car-park adjacent to Bowman Hall.” also, homosexuals ungod and opposition it wellness.
i know my family will be there front row centre, will yours?
yours in christ, j.
*hmmm, i recognise that shade of blue…

grandma and da’s house for a birthday meal. and the children arrived. all of them in christian soldier outfits, hungry and clawing at the tables. there was the noisy family friend with the bad sinuses and the jokes every five seconds and the hahaha-only-kidding-hahaha. well, before we start, who’s going to say grace? and the friend with the sinuses and the jokes swung her arm out toward me. well surely the son who has just come home the son whose birthday it is the new son the prodigal returned would love to say grace, right?
i didn’t have to decline the offer. i just burst out laughing and didn’t stop until after grace had stopped. even grandma got that joke.
